Hello, I am Sam, 20 years old from the US. I am studying mathematics+computer science as a rising junior undergraduate. Although I am actually taking the next year off, and am still in the planning phase of what I will do for the next 13 or so months.
For the past two weeks I have been doing a "dopamine fast", or whatever you want to call it, so that I can finally stop using social media and watching youtube for 5+ hours per day, as well as cutting back on other fast-dopamine things that are bad for me. I also wish to stop offloading tasks from my brain as much as I do, such as with using LLMs or search engines.
I have been tracking as many factors as possible related to my lifestyle and how it affects things like mood, motivation, brain fog, etc., for nearly a year, and essentially wish to optimize my life more. Not so much in a "productivity bro" type of way, but in a general fashion where I can get the most out of my life, and not hate the process.
I have been developing software for about 10 years, but began to lose motivation about 1-2 years ago, primarily due to AI, ironically. So I hope to gain back the motivation to finally get back to some of the projects I was working on.
I am the worlds biggest procrastinator. If a problem set is due at 11:59pm, I will start it at 11:00pm and probably have to skip a few problems. Yet another issue I am hoping to improve upon in the upcoming months.
I think a lot of people here are in a similar situation or would be great at guidance, so feel free to ping me about literally anything.
